Oath of the Ice Witch

Late Summer, the 15th - 18th day in the month of Dani 1371

The freeholders of Harrowhoff celebrated the birth of Sabira's child, a healthy girl with dark hair. Proud gifts were laid before the babe and she was baptized by Bishop Visefrin in the old fane. The child was given the name Dani in honor of the saint whose name graces the month of her birth. 

Lord Fillip, having heard of their heroic deeds in the east, offered knighthoods to Fidlthid and Ridwulf of Duncrag. 

Anon the heroes of Harrowhoff went down into the sinking cave to seek the goblin treasure. There they met the water nymph, Cattica who demanded the heroes perform a task for her. So the heroes went beneath the watery realm, imbued with Cattica's enchantment of water breathing. There they found the treasure of Juno, another of the dragon's wives. They had been charged with stealing Juno's great diamond for Cattica. So they defeated a pair of terrible fish, claimed the diamond, and returned it to Cattica, yet unaware of the many intrigues in the court of the dragon Pelidrod and his wives. 

On they went into the goblin pits. Through stealth and sorcery, they captured the goblin king, took his treasure, and made their escape past the fearful goblins. 

The heroes presented the captured king to Pelidrod the silver dragon. The dragon decided to give the goblin a trial by the depths, so they threw the corpulent creature of chaos into the water and there he sank to the bottom. 

The freeholders of Harrowhoff then quit the caves with their treasure and returned to make merry in their hall.

Later in the night, as Fidlthid retired to his cell, Morcarat appeared to him, beautiful and terrible with eyes of ice. She told the hobbit that she could not claim a child consecrated to the gods. The heroes had defaulted on their agreement with the witch of Rilm! Fidlthid and his band therefore owed to her a most terrible favor lest they face her wrath, a favor that would be laid upon them at a time not of their knowing.
